Here is the emo description I added with this EP when I released it on CDbaby in (I think) 2012. Not much has changed, still a total sap and still don't change out of my pjs a lot of days when I'm working on music :)
I think a lot of my influences from this time period remain, although I've become a lot more obsessed with rhythm and having a good beat behind the music.
"It sounds like pop music from a parallel universe, full of sparkling lights, choirs, mythical creatures and cosmic beats. Ani Stark's appropriately named debut EP 'Eve' is a treatise on the eternal.
"It's about disillusionment, really, but with a healthy dose of defiance and optimism." Ani has been writing and playing with different bands for years, but this is her first solo release, and with it she has created a unique and haunting sound. "It has taken me years to realize that I work best, and write my best material when I am shut up in my room, lost in my head..."
Ani wrote and recorded her debut EP in the lush countryside of Bahama, NC, just north of Durham with just a laptop, a microphone and an old kawai keyboard. "I think there were a few days where I didn't even get dressed, I would sit in my pajamas looking out at the woods laying down track after track. It's definitely an obsession."
